Vocabulary for Children in Spanish

Provide remediation in the childs native language.
This CD has all of the games that are on Basic Words for Children.

	All Spanish CDs are recorded by a bilingual SLP. The syllable segmentation game has been tailored to the Spanish phonological system where words tend to have more syllables than English. The word and phrase stimuli allow segmentation practice from one to ten syllables. Based on epidemiological studies done with monolingual English-speaking children, we can anticipate that there will be similar rates of speech and language delays in these children from homes in which Spanish is spoken (Kohnert 2000).

Evidence Base: Children with speech and language delays must receive treatment in their primary language in order for it to be maximally effective (Goldstein, 1999; Gutierrez-Clellen, 1999).
Benchmark Foreign Language: Uses basic vocabulary to describe assorted objects (e.g., toys, dress, types of dwellings, foods) in everyday environments. Uses vocabulary for a wide range of topics. Uses the target language to engage in conversations, express feeling and emotions, and exchange opinions and information.
